Fee Structure - Medicare
Clinical Psychologist
Senior Psychologist* – General registration 9+ years’ experience
*Senior psychologists at Psychology Centre Newcastle chose a different pathway to advance their knowledge and skills. They have completed higher degrees by research, are experts in evidence based research, and are highly experienced practitioners with a minimum of 8 years of clinical experience.
Fee Structure – Private Health Insurance
Full payment of your session will need to be made at the end of each appointment. You will be provided with a receipt, which you can use to claim on your private health insurance. Any rebate from your Health Fund will be subject to your personal cover and fund entitlements.
Fee Structure – Private Paying Clients
We accept private paying clients for assessment and treatment services. As a private paying client you do not need a referral from your GP as you will not be accessing a Medicare rebate. You can self-refer to our service here.
Fee Structure – Workers Compensation
We are accredited to provide Workers Compensation psychological services. Please speak with your insurer about your referral.

We offer telehealth appointments at a client’s request.

We do not offer appointments on public holidays.

The APS National Schedule of Recommended Fees 2023-2024 has the standard 46 to 60-minute consultation fee at $300. At Psychology Centre Newcastle, we ensure our fees are in line with this recommendation.
Assessment Sessions
Fee Structure – Psychological Assessment
The time it takes to complete a psychological assessment varies based on a variety of factors, including the referred/presenting problem. Assessments are charged at a rate which includes services such as clinical interview, test administration, questionnaires, observation, and phone interview with other sources (e.g., teachers). A written report and a feedback session to discuss the results of the assessment will be included in the assessment fee.

Before the assessment, an itemised quote will be provided to you. Fifty percent (50%) of the assessment fee is required upfront, and the remaining amount is due before the release of the report.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel or postpone an appointment, please do so with as much notice as possible. To cancel or reschedule an appointment please contact us by phone on 1300 294 619.
The following cancellation fees will apply:

Cancellation or rescheduling within 2 business days of the appointment time will be charged 50% of the session cost unless the appointment can be filled.

Cancellation or rescheduling within 1 business day of the appointment time of the scheduled appointment will be charged the full session cost unless the appointment can be filled.

No show/no notice cancellations or late attendance will be charged the full session cost.

All cancellation fees must be paid before your next appointment.
